BHHF: Aftermath

I haven’t updated in a while but there is plenty going on behind the scenes. If you follow my Tumblr you’ll see I post damn near every day so head over there for more pictures and such (clickity click click).

Moving right along.

I met some AMAZING artists at the Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival. One of them being Jen of Vanilla Medallions. She was set in the space right next to us and my mom and I helped her get her tent up. For the rest of the day we went back and forth talking to each other and just vibing. She’s a cool ass chick. Here she is

I DO NOT believe in plus fashion

I do not believe in plus fashion. After shopping in “specialty” stores for over 10 years I think its a crock of BS and I’m not drinking the koolaid anymore.

Summercamp Vol. 1

#summercamp is my hot weather initiative to bring one of a kind pieces to you. Each week through 9.21.11 I’ll be adding new, unique items. This weeks installment features crop tops, tank dresses and a very Decadent studded denim vest.

Getting ready for BHHF 2011

It’s been a while since my last post and I have been super busy. Tons of opportunities are opening up for Decadent and I’m trying to take advantage of them all. On Saturday July 16th I’ll be vending alongside Elyse and our friend Lynette at the 6th Annual Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival. Curvy Bloggers Brunch

Whew – I’m SO behind on my posts! Anywho, last weekend I had a blast at Sweet Roll Entertainment’s 1st Curvy Bloggers Luncheon. We met in the back yard of a charming spot in Boerum Hill by the name of Linger Cafe where we talked about the basics of blogging, how to find your niche and the science of staying consistent. The food was off the chains too – I had the sweet potato frittata with arugula  salad and fresh cantaloupe. Yummy! The ladies in attendance were so awesome, inspiring and hilarious. By the end of the event we were all getting on like old friends. Courtney was an excellent facilitator, allowing us to get off tangent but reining us in when we strayed too far off topic. I will continue to support her in everything she does. After my presentation I gave a small gift to the ladies to show my appreciation and a few of us headed over to Fort Greene for the Juneteenth Festival before going our separate ways. My camera was acting up but luckily I was able to swipe these pics from the Sweet Roll FB fanpage.

EVENTS: Sweet Roll Ent’s Curvy Bloggers Luncheon

On Saturday June 18th, just hours before the Full Figured Fashion Week runway finale,  I will be speaking at Sweet Roll Entertainment’s New + Aspiring Bloggers Luncheon. The goal of the event is to engage writers trying to break into the curvy blogosphere and help set them on the path of successful blogging.

This weekend I had the pleasure of meeting Courtney of Sweet Roll Entertainment and I am humbled yet excited about meeting the new and aspiring curvy bloggers in attendance. Spaces are limited but there are a few spots left for those interested and tickets can be purchased via Paypal at Courtney’s site. It’s only $25 to attend and the ticket includes lunch, a bloggers workshop offering tips for starting and expanding your niche, a gift from Sweet Roll Entertainment as well as a special gift from myself. All in all it will be an inspiring event in a cozy and welcoming atmosphere that we hope will leave you with a sense of empowerment.  While they last, advance tickets will be available for sale through Wednesday June 15th. Decadent x Elyse Lauryne Pool Party!

I hope you can join Elyse and I at the Grace Hotel. We did a night at the Grace Pool last summer and had a blast. It’s free for ladies who just want to chill and $15 to swim (sorry fellas, it’s $15 for you all night). It’s going to be even better this time around as we play water polo with a few of our favorite people. There will be Decadent and Elyse Lauryne goodies available for pre-sale and possibly a few freebies while supplies last. The dress code will be enforced so please Get Dec’d, come through and party with us. I can’t wait to see you there.

Photo Diary: Nakimuli Show

Let me preface this post by saying that yesterday was my last official day in corporate *throws confetti* I originally had June 15th set for my last day but a certain chain of events, possibly fate, led me to leave my job earlier. I was already excited about leaving and its only a week sooner but I feel so relieved. And liberated. Since this is my first post it will be incredibly long and picture heavy. Don’t judge me.

This past Saturday Tennille had a fashion show in Bushwick to showcase her Summer ’11 collection. I had seen a couple of the unfinished pieces a few weeks back when I visited her studio and it was nice to see them come to fruition on the runway.
